AIREOKE?, the world?s first and foremost melding of karaoke and air-guitar has returned to NYC. At a recent AIREOKE event in Los Angeles, attendees witnessed a shirtless Har Mar Superstar air guitaring on the bar, the former bassist of Danzig judging an impromptu air band?s version of Danzig?s immortal song, ?Mother,? and a mystery air guitarist channeling GG Allin by defecating into a pizza box onstage. Finally, after almost a year?s absence, Aireoke is back in the New York groove.

AIREOKE is the monthly event where anyone can be a rock star for 60 seconds. The rules are simple: choose any song from our vast list and wail away, sing along, or both. There are no karaoke machines, no bouncing balls, no crappy videos, and absolutely NO guitars. Drinks will be awarded to those who achieve Airness: "The extent to which an air guitar performance transcends the imitation of a 'real' art form -- i.e. electric guitar -- and becomes an art form in and of itself."

The best performer of the evening will be entered into an AIREOKE qualifying round and get the chance to compete for free entry into the East Coast Regional Air Guitar Competition (Saturday May 21 at B.B. Kings ? see US Air Guitar for details)
