Preparing Your Portfolio
Your portfolio represents your capabilities and the work you've created as a college student and young designer. Preparing a portfolio should be an exciting and thoughtful process that shares the results of the design courses you've experienced, your craft and your ability to problem solve. Many students set out to prepare their portfolio, but experience difficulties with deciding on the content, tone and flow of their book. Many questions arise from this process, such as, what kind of presentation format should be used, should an online portfolio be available as well, etc. A comprehensive presentation that displays how you think through a project and the process you apply to your work is typically more important than showing off computer skills.

Preparing a portfolio for a job interview may be a difficult process and graphic designers new to the field are often confused about the best way to present their work. Seasoned designer Alex Valderama will help us understand more about the best practices in preparing a portfolio and present guidelines to consider.
