Afro-Peruvian songstress MARINA LAVALLE in concert April 11, 2009

Afro Peruvian Songstress and a former member of world renowned group Peru Negro, Marina Lavalle, performs in the first of a series of concerts celebrating the roots of Latin American cultures. Delight in zamacueca, lando, festejo and take pleasure in the sounds of bassist David Pinto and the percussion of Braulio Barrera, Pedro Rosales, and master percussionist and multi instrumentalist Lalo Izquierdo.

This event is the first of RAICES concert series. Raíces celebrates and honors the musical roots of Latin American Cultures. This concert series will include traditional music of several Latin American countries and will provide a space for bridging, deepening and expanding cultural traditions of our communities in the Diaspora.
