Join us for a dynamic night where you'll hear a mix of forró, rock, Afro-Latin Reggae, funk, rap, Afro-Brazilian Funk undergirded by the syncopated beat of samba. B-Side Players and Sambada are two of the most sought after dance bands in the West Coast. It's rare and a treasure to see both of them at the Independent.

While it has been argued that Brazilian music in general is marked by a fusion of influences only fitting for a country with such diversity of ethnicities, cultures, and races, Sambada offers a new take on brazil’s worldly music. They brings the frenetic carnival vibe of Rio’s sambas. There is an edge to their music, and funk energy.

Seven-member Latin music group B-Side Players play evocative songs mainly based on socio-political themes. The Players creatively blend soulful vocals, Latin percussion, reggae and salsa rythms to create a unique and infectious sound. Their new album Fire In the Youth holds the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Latino Alternative List.
