The Works Progress Administration - WPA - was created in the 1930s to give assistance to people who were reduced to begging for food and rent. Millions were employed to carry out public works projects. Join guide and historical expert Liz del Tufo on a tour of some of these lasting endeavors. Visit Newark Airport's Terminal One, the first airline terminal in the United States, restored to its Art Deco splendor. Marvel at Penn Station's mix of Beaux Arts and Art Deco styles and see its magnificent murals. Ride the Newark City Subway to Branch Brook Park where 2500 flowering cherry trees were planted as a WPA project. After lunch at the Spanish Manor, view Arshile Gorky's restored WPA murals at the Newark Museum. Lunch included.
