Flex 2/Actionscript 3 Coding and Development Workshop
Bay Area Application Developers Adobe User Group

As with our August meeting, this session will feature 3 short presentations, each of about 30 minutes duration and each focusing on a very specific technical topic.

Satori Canton will demonstrate how to create near-perfect code through the practice of unit testing. Using the FlexUnit library (available at http://code.google.com/p/as3flexunitlib/), Satori will demonstrate some simple principles of Object Oriented Programming and Extreme Programming that businesses use to ensure the code they deploy will always perform as expected.

Mark Altenbernd will discuss Flex Validators as a quick yet powerful means to ensure that user-entered data is properly formatted before it is sent off on a pointless roundtrip to the server and back.

Randy Fong will examine a map application that he built entirely in Flex 2/Actionscript 3, which creates a map of libraries in San Francisco from selected data. He will deconstruct the app and look at what it took to build it. He will walk through the Flex 2 Yahoo Map API and point out the key things you need to know to build a map application on your own.
