Where Music Begins, Academy of Music Education, offers music lessons in

Kindermusik;
Simply Music Piano;
and Signing Smart American Sign Language.

We accept students of all ages and abilities and our enrollment of children with special needs is the largest of all Simply Music Piano Teachers worldwide. The unique design of all of our programs allows us to teach many children and adults with diagnosed special needs. It is the perfect environment for these students allowing them to feel secure because they are learning in the same fashion as all other children.

Our experience in this area is extensive and we have worked with many special needs including sensory processing disorders, autism, asbergers, downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, developmental and cognitive delays, visual and auditory impairments, physical disabilities, and the blind. Our focus is on the process not the performance allowing children and adults to experience the joy and magic of making music while fostering their individual musicality, creativity and imagination. Our teachers are university educated, highly experienced, and licensed, accredited or certified in the programs they teach. We are passionate about enriching the lives of our students by focusing on their “ability” and not their “disability” allowing us to provide a sense of security and success in a positive learning environment. Because we believe that parent participation is an integral part of our student’s learning experience, children with special needs can experience success in all of our programs.
