SMi’s event provides an in-depth, interactive Masterclass led by a highly knowledgeable course leader, Mike McBride who has years of experience in the fields of policing, public order, firearms, spontaneous command of critical and serious incidents. Since his retirement from policing in 2011, Mike McBride has written articles, chaired conferences and advised on all matters related to security – with the aim of making policing safer and more efficient.

Topics covered in the course include; a compare and contrast of the two types of active shooter (namely the lone spree killer and marauding teams of armed terrorists), how to apply a rational decision making model when responding to both types of active shooter scenario and implementation of a response which is justified, authorised, proportionate, auditable and necessary.
