AAUW Seattle invites you to celebrate with us 100 years of women's right to vote in Washington State.

Women got the right to vote here in 1910. Seattle's Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) has an exhibit featuring the artifacts and history of the Women's Movement in Washington during the huge effort to get women the vote.

We are fortunate to have Shanna Stevenson, the curator of the exhibit, to speak to our group personally. Shanna is a long-time local historian from Olympia. She joined Washington State Historical Society in January 2006 as the Coordinator of the Women's History Consortium project.

Seattle AAUW (American Association of University Women) will have a special program at the museum on Sunday, September 19th featuring:

* Light refreshments and socializing
* Presentation by Shanna Stevenson - exhibit curator
* Tour through the Women's Suffrage Exhibit

100 years ago women weren't allowed to vote, but were required to pay taxes and abide by laws their male counterparts voted into place. Join us and find out how women from all economic and ethnic groups banded together to persuade the men of Washington to give them the right to vote.

This exhibit will be moving to Spokane soon after our meeting, so please take this opportunity to join us and experience this exciting presentation.
