875 Howard Street
San Francisco, California 94103

Thursday, December 20th will be the last time the Academy opens its Howard street doors to the downtown after-work crowd by staying open late. At 5pm on January 6, 2008, the Academy's Howard Street location closes permanently. This is in preparation for the grand re-opening in Golden Gate Park in the fall of 2008.

During "Third Thursdays," museum visitors have been able to shake up their typical after-work routine by exploring exhibits and aquarium displays while listening to chill music and sipping creative cocktails. Playful penguins and poison-dart frogs have provided colorful topics of conversation, while exotic fish from around the world have transported visitors to the tropics, Tibet, and dozens of other remote destinations. Join us and help the Academy say farewell to three years of clownfish, cocktails and conversation.

A photo montage of past parties will be playing as will a Third Thursday regular - Brazilian jazz ensemble Boca Do Rio (www.bocadorio.com).

Please note: Although this is the last Third Thursday, the Academy plans on continuing evening programming in Golden Gate Park. If you would like to receive an update close to the grand re-opening, please send your request to [email protected] and your email will be added to the Academy evening programming list.
