A Conversation with George Jellinek January 18, 2005

The Museum honors George Jellinek, noted author (Callas: Portrait of a Prima Donna and History Through the Opera Glass) and host of the long-running syndicated radio series The Vocal Scene. The weekly program, which includes interviews with opera stars, tributes to singers past and present, and provocative theme programs on diverse subjects (?Napoleon?A Musical Saga? and ?World War II and the American Singer?), was first broadcast on New York?s WQXR-FM in 1968 and will end its thirty-six-year run on December 30, 2004. Pulitzer Prize?winning music critic Martin Bernheimer will interview Mr. Jellinek about his life and career, and selected highlights from The Vocal Scene will be played.
