The London Science Museum has launched a unique new project as a part of their Climate Changing programme. The project, called ‘A Cockroach Tour of the Science Museum’ is a participatory event by art group Superflex, which invites participants to take on the form of cockroaches.

Visitors to the Science Museum will be able to dress up in realistic cockroach costumes to begin a journey through the Museum, exploring the impact on the climate of scientific and technological developments from the perspective of one of the oldest, most resilient life forms on the planet.

The humorous tour will take visitors through the Museum’s Energy Hall, Exploring Space and Making the Modern World galleries before completing their journey in the atmosphere gallery. The tour has been created by Superflex, a group of artists and designers whose work aims both to highlight global issues and to suggest and generate alternative ideas and solutions.

To celebrate the launch of the cockroach tour Science Museum are also offering one lucky winner four places for them and their friends on a cockroach tour on either Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th February 2011. The winner will be given a small handheld camera for the duration of the tour to capture their experience. Science Museum will then edit the captured content in to a slick video for the winner to keep. To enter the competition you simply need to email [email protected] with the word ‘cockroach‘ by 5:00 PM on Tuesday 8th February 2011.
