8MM with Hypernova June 3, 2008

We're playing at the Roxy on Tuesday night with our friends, Hypernova! They're a real cool band from Iran...think sort of Joy Division meets the Strokes (I know we ALL hate those kinds of comparative descriptions, but they are helpful....and I can be, well, long winded so venturing into some metaphorical, esoteric description could be counter-productive.

HOWEVER, what is important is that they are one of my new favorite bands. So there's that.

Sean mixed their album that's about to come out, so we got to know Raam, the singer a bit. He told us about the band playing shows in underground parking garages, back in Iran, all the while running the risk of being caught by police, which meant that the band and their fans would be arrested and most likely beaten...now, THAT'S rock-n-roll if I ever heard it!

So that's it... doors are at 7:30... 8mm starts at 9:30 and Hypernova is on right after us. I'm gonna hang out to shake a tail feather...so come with your shiny shoes on.
