Early Registrations Now Accepted for Poetry, Prose & Arts Festival

Sixth Annual Event to Feature Workshops, Celebrity Appearances, Contests and More

The event will host two special guests. California Poet Laureate Al Young will present the keynote address and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Michael Chabon will present the afternoon session. Mr. Chabon will also appear the Amador Theater in Pleasanton at 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening in a program sponsored by City of Pleasanton Civic Arts Presents.

This year's event will feature workshops, poetry contests and celebrity appearances. In addition, participants may choose to attend a reception and book signing, visit Literary Row to meet and mingle with local authors, and enjoy music by classical guitarist Jim Steinke, PhD. Pleasanton Art League and other regional artists will present a fine arts show. The evening banquet will include the reading of prize winning poems and prose, presentation of cash awards and music by Flutes Con Moto.

Adult poetry workshops will be led by Armand Brint, Susan Browne, and Charles and Gail Entrekin, Lewis Buzbee will conduct a prose workshop for adults and teens. Grace Marie Grafton will lead a youth poetry and art workshop and Elisa Kleven will present a workshop on writing and illustrating children's books for adults and teens.

Adult registration includes two workshops, plus sessions with California Poet Laureate Al Young and author Michael Chabon, afternoon events that are open to the public and all meals, including the evening awards banquet.

Youth registration (ages 4-12 years) includes a morning poetry workshop and the public afternoon activities.

Teen registration (ages 13-19 years) includes two workshops, the Al Young and Michael Chabon sessions, and the afternoon public activities.

Adults, teens and youth who wish to enter the Festival's poetry contests must submit their entries with early registration.
