6th Annual GIRLS LEAD NOW 2010 February 20, 2010

The 6th annual, Girls Lead Now 2010, is an outrageously fabulous event created BY and FOR teenage girls. In addition to an extraordinary keynote speaker, Helen Grieco, former Executive Director of National Organization of Women (NOW) in CA and founder of the She Institute, we conduct exciting and interactive workshops lead by girls helping other teen girls succeed in life beyond school. Workshops include: College Prep, Unleashing Creativity, Health & Fitness, Breaking Stereotypes, Fearless Speaking, Budgeting, How to Get a Job, and more! Event includes fun fashionable clothing swap. We provide: Cool T-shirt, breakfast, lunch, a cake-filled celebration, AND the Teen Clothing Swap!

Unlike other organizations, Girls Lead Now is created by teen girls for teen girls. the Girls Lead event workshops are planned and presented by teen girls! The mission of Girls Lead Now is to inspire independence, confidence, and responsibility in teen girls through education in life-skills and leadership opportunities. We build communities of girls who will network with, learn from, and support each other because that is what they will need to do as women. The objective of our project "Girls Lead Now," is to teach teen girls the skills they need to put the power where it belongs-with them. Through our mission, we will combat a segment of women in society that perpetually do not support other women. By starting young, we will change our culture by teaching girls to work together to achieve their goals, instead of fighting each other in a scarcity for positions and opportunities. In allowing girls to create and experience a supportive environment, Girls Lead Now will teach young adult women to choose the direction of their lives and support each other in whatever paths they choose. Our Board of Directors is crafting plans to expand from an annual event experience to a year-long program that will reach more girls in the community and create a larger, more sustainable impact.
