I'm helping to advertise a really great event in Georgetown later this month. Breast cancer runs in my family and I've had some friends and family diagnosed in the past year or two, so this is near and dear to my heart. I hope you all will be able to attend - even if later in the night. Either way, if you can make it and buy a drink for a great cause I'd really appreciate it. I've included the email that came from the co-owner of the bar who is the very awesome hostess of the event. Please feel free to invite your friends!!

All,

Just a reminder to reserve Saturday, September 20th for BreastFest at Smarty Pants in Georgetown. Doors will open to a live DJ, raffles, a silent auction, and drink specials around 7pm. You might even be the lucky one who rides away on a new Yamaha Vino Scooter at the end of the night!

What is BreastFest? It's a fundraiser we started five years ago to help support our friend Noelle Mayhew fight her battle with breast cancer. We lost her almost a year ago to the disease, but we are proud to continue on in her honor. We hope to raise $10,000 this year. There are many ways we try to generate funds - a $10 voluntary donation at the door, a $1 raffle for smaller prizes, a silent auction for bigger prizes, drink specials from beer donated by our distributors (we even have official sponsorship from PBR!), and of course the raffling of a new scooter. Tickets for the scooter are being sold ahead of time at Smarty Pants and through Team Noelle. Gilda's Club is also offering them through their website. You do not need to be present at the event to win the scooter.

Where does the money go? A majority of the funds are distributed to Gilda's Club on Capital Hill. We feel this organization's values and ideas are more in line with Noelle's way of living. It's all about socializing with others affected by cancer and keeping your mind in a healthy state. The Susan G. Komen Foundation will receive ten percent of the funds through Team Noelle. The Komen Foundation focuses on energizing the sciences to find cures.

More information and reminders will be coming over the next couple of weeks. When more items are in hand I will send out a list of items we have for the auction and raffle.

Please feel free to distribute this email to friends and family (and your cool co-workers)!

Thanks,

Michelle Braasch
