Immerse yourself in over 150,000 orchids and experience the exotic thrill of “Carnaval” as the 58th annual Pacific Orchid Exposition returns to Fort Mason Center, February 26-28th, 2010.

The Pacific Orchid Exposition is the largest orchid show in the United States, boasting thousands of orchid flowers from all over the globe with extreme diversity in color, shape and size.

Each year, local, national and international orchid growers all gather together showcase and sell their unique species and rare hybrids. Various orchid societies and nurseries create eye-popping displays through lavish orchid exhibits. The Pacific Orchid Exposition also offers docent tours and cultivation tips, and attendees can speak directly with growers, perfectly pairing aesthetics and education.

For the first time, the Gala Night will be held on Friday, February 26th from 6:30 – 10:00 pm and the San Francisco Orchid Society will present its $5,000 scholarship to one lucky horticultural student from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. In addition to the scholarship award, the Gala Night also features live music, delicious hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and wine tasting from over 20 of the Bay Area’s premier wineries.

Orchids in their spring revel remind all of nature’s splendor and bounty, of the triumph of life, and pure joy that is found in beauty. The San Francisco Orchid Society encourages everyone to forget the worries of the world, and lose themselves in the beauty and intensity of Carnaval.
