This Asian/American Chicago-born singer/songwriter began her musical career as a young child by delivering an award-winning performance at the age of six with a rendition of Are You Sleeping? in Mandarin Chinese. As a New York based solo acoustic guitarist that delivers her own vocal freedom of jazz and folk, the young 20-something musician has been inspired by Ella Fitzgerald and Joni Mitchell with songs that are bittersweet, poetic and emotionally complex. Now as a solo acoustic guitarist with a unique blend of jazz and folk, she has developed a personable stage presence and a loyal fan base. She also has released 2 EPs of original songs (2005s Blue and Borderlined and 2007s Doppleganger). Since the release of her debut EP, Cynthia has become a regular on the regional touring circuit, performing at respected venues including DCs IOTA Club, Philadelphias World Cafe Live, New Yorks Rockwood Music Hall, and Chicagos Uncommon Ground. Cynthia has supported major acts including Vienna Teng and Emm Gryner, and was featured on NPRs Open Mic series. The music video for her song Im Shy was selected to premiere at the 2005 Asian American International Film Fest. Adam Simkin of EntertainmentDC.com says, Lins music stylings hint at past greats, yet sound fresh with a distinct charm.
