Brown Rane is a threat on many levels, combining her skills as a singer, songwriter, musician, and composer. She draws inspiration from the likes of Nina Simone, Mary J Blige, Earth Wind and Fire, Whitney Houston, Prince, and Jill Scott. Her sound is an amalgamation of R&B, soul, jazz, pop, funk, rock and hip-hop in one sandwich. After performing in nursing homes and neighborhood backyards at a very young age, she found herself writing poetry and songs. She has toured with an energizing group called the Mary J's, and a dynamic group of singers, MC's, and poets called The Cataclysm. They went on a college tour, performing at Hunter College, La Guardia Community College, Lehman College, Baruch College, Cornell University, among many others. As a soloist, she has performed at several regional venues, including Gregory's, 5 Spot Soul Food Restaurant, Remote Lounge, Cheetah Club, and Carmichaels' Underground Jazz Club. She has also performed in an opening band for an MTV taping and has acted in the play Corn Bread and Roti. Brown Rane has had the opportunity to work with many talented artists (Yanni, A. E Henry) and many illustrious production teams (Ozone Music Productions, $ha Money of G unit Records, Good o'l Boys under Ryan Leslie, the hot new artist Cassie of Next Selection, Diesel Music, and Nu Soundz Alliance). There are no limitations to what this young lady can do. Just ask her. Shell tell you.
