Bring your blue suede shoes as you toe tap to those rockabilly blues or sway to the swing rhythms of gypsy jazz coming from the 37th Annual Roots Fest on Adams. This two-day FREE music festival has something for everyone as it rocks the neighborhood of Normal Heights, spanning Adams Avenue from 35th Street to Felton Street, on April 24th from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and April 25th, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Friends and families won’t want to miss a beat as they flood Adams Avenue to shake their stuff as they dance to live music coming from the venue’s four stages. Adams Avenue Business Association, with help from Belly Up Tavern will be providing festivals goers over 40 local and national artists performing music from a variety of genres like Acoustic, Folk, Traditional Roots Music, Appalachian Folk Songs, Tango, Alternative Country, Cajon, Cowboy, Delta Blues, Organic Kid Folk, Bluegrass and Reggae. Music isn’t the only thing that sets the Roots Fest on Adams apart from other festivals, along with catchy melodies; attendees can peruse the artistic creations from a variety of arts and crafts vendors throughout the venue or cool off from the heat in not one, but two beer gardens! After working up an appetite and thirst from all your walking and dancing, head over to 34th street and Adams Avenue where you can take a break and sample the delicious house specialties from Adams Avenue’s finest restaurants at the first annual Roots Fest on Adams preview for the Taste of Adams Avenue. Tickets to this tasty area are just $15 to sample all 10 restaurants and for just a few dollars more you can enhance your experience by enjoying samples of flavorful wines, craft and microbrews for just $5 for 3 samples or $10 for 8 samples. If all of this wasn’t enough to get you of your couch and onto Adams Avenue, the Roots Fest on Adams will also be new home to a community event favorite, “Healing Arts Fest on Adams”, where you can enjoy a plethora of music, massage, yoga and other amazing healing arts! The Roots Fest on Adams is hosted by the Adams Avenue Business Association, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to promote and increase commercial activity within the Adams Avenue Business District.
