Veronica Roberts, Director of Research, Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing Catalogue Raisonné and Adjunct Curator of Contemporary Art, Indianapolis Museum of Art, will deliver the lecture “Boston’s First Sol LeWitt Wall Drawing” on September 19 in the MFA's Alfond Auditorium, focusing on Wall Drawing # 118, which was first installed at the School of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 1971. Delving into the challenges and rewards of researching this artist’s unique body of conceptual art, she will also highlight the special importance LeWitt attached to his collaborations with art students at SMFA and schools across the country and abroad.

This lecture is in conjunction with SMFA’s fall exhibition “Something Along Those Lines” on view September 13–November 3, 2012.

Established in 1978 by Leo and Betty Beckwith (daughter Carol is an alumna), the Beckwith series was created to further SMFA student development by featuring artists and cultural thinkers of national and international stature.

SMFA lectures at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) are free and open to the public. Attendees must obtain free tickets from a kiosk or ticket desk at the MFA to gain admittance.
