2009 LunarFest: Lantern-A-Mania February 1, 2009

The Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad presents the 2009 LunarFest as Vancouver celebrates the ancient Lunar New Year tradition with the spirit of Vancouver 2010 at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza.

The feature presentation of the 2009 LunarFest is Lantern-A-Mania. A glowing constellation of lanterns are utilized to showcase Asian culture, as it engages young and old in a celebration of the Lunar New Year in various parts of the world. Lantern-A-Mania brings cultural and artistic expression as a fusion of creativity comes forth in lantern decoration and design resonating with the spirit of Vancouver 2010 and the host nation, Canada.

What's Featured:
- "Five Elements of the Earth" lantern display, utilizing environmentally sustainable material
- "Canadian DNA Lantern Trees" showcasing lanterns decorated by creative elementary school students
- "True North Lantern" of the 12 zodiacs engaging in winter sports
- "Public Dreams Procession" will parade the courtyard
