6th Street between Market and Howard
San Francisco, California 94103

On two days, art lovers will be able to see local artists performing and exhibiting along Market Street and 6th Street in Central Market. 2 Blocks of Art showcases the cutting edge downtown arts scene and Central Market's galleries, theaters, shops and restaurants. In addition to encompassing a larger area this year, the San Francisco Arts Commission enhances this annual art walk with street activities including temporary public art and performances by local artists.

Now in its third year, Urban Solutions' 2 Blocks of Art is a true San Francisco experience. The art walk showcases over 100 local artists in 25 locations in a neighborhood rich with culture and well known for its cutting edge arts community. The heart of the art walk is the two blocks on Sixth Street that bridge the Central Market with the South of Market.

In 2012, we are proud to expand to present 2 Months of 2 Blocks of Art with activities centered around the Luggage Store gallery at one end and 1st Amendment gallery (1:AM) at the other. Features, like musicians playing in a laundromat and a fashion designer exhibiting in an optometry office, make this event truly unique! Restaurants, bars, nightclubs and theaters along Sixth Street offer discounted food, drinks and admission prices.

Read about grants available to artists this year. Artists interested in participating are encouraged to contact Tracy Everwine, Project Director, at [email protected] or call (415) 553-4433 x109.

2 Blocks of Art is held in conjunction with the 24 Days of Central Market Arts festival.
