18th Annual TNDC Celebrity Pool Toss Benefits Tenderloin Families

An eclectic “stew” of celebrities, chefs, local business leaders and City officials will all be ceremoniously tossed into the Phoenix Hotel’s pool to raise money to help Tenderloin children and families. The 18th annual TNDC Celebrity Pool Toss will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at the Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco. Each year, the Celebrity Pool Toss raises funds to benefit the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation’s (TNDC) After School Program and other family programs.

The 2010 TNDC Celebrity Pool Toss is hosted by Laura Pfaff and Jim Losi, and will feature the following confirmed “tossees”: Robert Dowgiallo from Pacific Wine & Spirits and Kyle Herman from Nolet Spirits; Joanne Hayes-White, Chief, San Francisco Fire Department; Dawn Holliday, Impresario of Slim’s, The Great American Music Hall & Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival; Hubert Keller, Chef, TV Host & Author; Anna Marie Presutti, Vice President & General Manager, Hotel Nikko; Martin Richards, Bank of America, San Francisco Market President.

Confirmed emcees include: Jon Handlery, President, Handlery Hotels, Inc; Cheryl Jennings, Anchor, KGO-TV/ABC7; Liam Mayclem, Host & Producer, CBS-TV/5, Eye on the Bay; Suzanne Whang, TV Host/Actor/Comedian; Harry Duncan, Producer/Host, In The Soul Kitchen/KUSF, Founder/DJ, Roots and Rhythm DJ Project; Tori Ritchie Cookbook Author/Cooking Teacher/TV Personality; Bob Sarlatte, Comedian/Frequent Letterman Guest/SF 49er Field Announcer; Empress XXX Donna Sachet, TV host and performer; life of the party Harry Denton, Harry Denton’s Starlight Room.

Since the first pool toss in 1992, the annual Celebrity Pool Toss has raised nearly $3 million for TNDC’s Tenderloin After-School Program and other support services. Past participants have included Warren Hellman, Betsey Johnson, Don Johnson, Michael Tilson Thomas, Bob Weir, Robin Williams, Kristi Yamaguchi, Cindy Williams, Cheech Marin, Mayor Willie E. Brown, Mayor Gavin Newsom, Jarrod Cooper, Jack Baer, Lou Seal, Liam Mayclem, Malou Nubla, Craig Newmark, Nick Graham, John Goldman, Cheryl Jennings, Charlotte Shultz, Joe D'Alessanro, Gwyneth J. Borden, Linda Corso, Warren Hinckle and many others.

An evening of “Only in San Francisco” entertainment has been confirmed, including The Fabulous Bud E. Love Show, San Francisco’s favorite Go Go dance troupe the Devil-Ettes, the Bay Area’s Kathleen Antonia, DJ Rafa, and the extremely toned lifeguards from Gold’s Gym who will rescue any celebrities who can’t swim – or who just want to be rescued!

Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC)
Founded in 1981, TNDC’s mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with support services for low-income people in the Tenderloin community and be a leader in making the neighborhood a better place to live. TNDC owns and manages 30 buildings that provide homes for nearly 3,000 extremely low-income seniors, families, people with disabilities, low-income wage earners, immigrants and many others in the Tenderloin and nearby neighborhoods.
