May 5-6, 2007, 15th Annual Norway Day Festival Weekend at Fort Mason

Head to Fort Mason's Herbst Pavilion this weekend from 10am to 5pm daily, to sample a taste of Norway. Presented by the Norwegian Consulate in San Francisco, the weekend brings the best in food, music, art and culture that Norway has to offer. In 2007, special attention has been given to kids activities, making the weekend a truly family affair.

Norway Day kicks off on Saturday morning with the 10k Run for Arctic Awareness. Kids entertainment will be hosted by the Scandinavian School of San Francisco and sponsored by Trolltech and Nordic Naturals. At noon on Saturday there's a kids foot race inside the festival pavilion, The Nordic Berries Troll Stroll, sponsored by Nordic Naturals. A children's drawing contest will be sponsored by Trolltech all day Saturday and Sunday, together with sing-a-longs and storytelling.

Festival-goers will be able to indulge in a wide selection of Scandinavian delectables including Norwegian chocolate, a variety of cheeses, open-faced sandwiches, homemade waffles, krumkake, cookies, norwegian hot dogs wrapped in lompe. Tastings of Norway's national drink, Aquavit will be on hand, as well as Christania Vodka, also produced in Norway. Norwegian beer and wine will also be available.

Norwegian Consul General Are-Jostein Norheim said, "A great progam has been put together to give the Bay Area a picture of what our country is all about. We want people to learn more about us, about our history and traditions, and Norway of today. You can of course only get glimpses of the story of Norway...our intention is that the Festival will increase your wish to travel to Norway to get the whole story."
