Washington, D.C., District of Columbia

The American Library Assocation (ALA) announces their partnership with WVSA's ARTiculate Employment Training Program, a dynamic Washington, DC non-profit that uses the arts to empower children and youth with special talents and special needs to master educational, employment and other life goals.

These very talented youth are providing over 75 pieces of their original art to the ALA Exhibits Round Table (ERT) Silent Auction being held during the ALA Annual Conference June 23-25, 2007. A portion of the profits from this art auction will go direct to the youth to provide them with much needed income. The remaining profits will fund essential WVSA programs and ALA scholarships to library school students. Some of the youth will be onsite to support this joint effort.

The ERT Silent Auction is located in the Washington, D.C. Convention Center lobby, across from the ALA Store, and also features over 150 additional items for bid such as jewelry, autographed books, quilts, and gift baskets. There is also a 50/50 cash drawing.

All ALA attendees, members, and exhibitors who support this year's ERT Silent Auction will significantly impact and empower both library school students and special needs D.C. youth.
